Movin' on...

This weekend was a decent weekend for training. Friday I had a good 50 min run at a decent pace with some hills. It seems when I hit some hills my mood seems to be a lot better overall when I am finished. Good run to start the weekend and I also received my new bike wheel. Saturday was a normal bike day I ended up with a 44 miler with a climb up Parris Mountain (local hill climb). Felt really good climbing, which surprised me. I hit a gel pack at the top and came down and finished in some rolling terrain. Sunday was a large brick day. I needed another 2hr30min ride with a 55min run afterward. I felt ok on the bike but I really hammered it. I averaged about 19.3 mph. Which is really good considering where I train. On the bike I eat a PB and honey sandwich and had one gel, I also carried two accelrades with a plain water. When I got off the bike I felt as if the sandwich hadn't digested and it wasn't going to go away. I started on the run and felt normal for just getting off the bike. I got to mile 2 and could really feel the temp outside starting to bother my stomach. I got to mile 3 and puked. OHH RELEASE. I felt better. I had to get the PB taste out of my mouth so I hopped a fence at a local school and washed out my mouth and guzzled some water because I just lost some. It was a different run after that. The first half of the run I averaged somewhere around 830 but the last half was just under 8. With all of this happening I need to really look at what I plan on doing. I have been switching around things that work and don't work. This weekend didn't work to well. I believe a lot had to do with me taking in more accelerade instead of just plain water. Hence the sandwich wanting to come back up. I know I need the sandwich but maybe not for this distance. Not really sure. After this weekend, I learned a couple of things.
1) I am ready for the Half Ironman
2) Puke to the side
3) Make sure you don't hit the dog that is chasing you
4) Make sure you are fast enough to hide from the cops when they come after you after jumping the fence at the local school.

So there you go.
The kid is doing great and advancing ever day. Really cool to see that.

Take care!
