Well this Thanksgiving was great. I actually did some exercise and enjoyed the time I had with my family. It started with going to the wife's fam in NC a week before the Thanksgiving weekend and we showed off the T-man. He seemed to really enjoy himself with her family and just laughed and cried as much as a little baby could. I had a great run there and didn't get hit by any cars, even though the wife's grandparents were for sure that would happen if I went running. After that I came back to SC to work and relax (relax meaning I didn't do jack squat!). Well Team Parents picked up Heather in NC and then drove down on Wednesday to pick me up so we could leave to go to KY.
KY is where I was born (Bardstown) and where both of my parents were born and raised (out in the middle of no where but about an hour from Louisville). My mom and dad have a large family. I believe both of my grandparents had 8 children. So each get together with Team Parents families are big. 40 plus people! We went to my dad's family get together on Thanksgiving day. Packed house with a bunch of kids running around and a baby that we were trying to get to nap. Not a good mix but we had fun. I got dogged by my cousins in basketball. This brought me down to earth a little even if I am an Ironman. My mom thought it was funny! I do have excuses 1) my cousins are all about 2 or 3 inches taller (my dad was the runt of the litter) 2) they have shot a basketball in the last 4 months. Ohh well I ended up with a nice eyebrow cut and some bruises on the ribs, which happens every year!
OK so when we stay in KY we stay with my Aunt Mary, which lives in Louisville. Her daughter, my cousin, is one of my best friends and I just love hanging out with her. The wife really enjoys Sheri as well. So we usually do the shopping thing and just hang out together and that is pretty much what happened. Saturday, the day my mom's family gets together, I needed a run! I was jones'en for it. I was about to run out of the door when my cousin's smallest child (8 years old) said he wanted to go along. I told him I was going to do 4 plus miles and then I would come back for him. He said cool! I got the run in and stopped to pick him up. He was ready with his basketball shoes on and jeans and a polo. He tried to strap a FM receiver to his shoulder like I have my mp3 player. Very cute! Anyway, he ran solid for 1.25 miles. He did awesome. I think he will be the next Ironman in this family! I gave him a few pointers and he really listened to what I had to say. He wanted to know how he could do more and when and how. I thought this was just awesome! GO ALEC!
Well the family arrived and T-man was in full cuteness and really did his thing. I am sure he will be getting some extra Christmas presents for that showing. Update on my Uncle David, he is not doing well but he was there and sat through the whole get together saying a little but the cancer has taken him and he knows it. They are just waiting for him to move on! Just say a few prayers for the family! Anyway, the weekend was great and telling the Ironman story really made my head big! I could hardly fit through the van door on our trip back home! HA HA!!
I am so blessed and so thankful for my family and everything they have meant to me and my parents. Also just living in a country where we can travel and get together and have a good time is so awesome.
Also of note I hopped in the cycle class this morning and lifted some weights.
Take care and I will have pictures coming soon!

You can just play a little one-on-one with me at the Lockheed court when I get back...that will surely give your ego a boost.
