Epiphany Time

So I had this great thought come over me the other day and I want to write it down so I can read it and see if it makes sense...

OK so my epiphany was that I would not do any triathlons this year, except for the one I already paid for. My reasoning is that I just don't feel excited about it like I did when I had this daunting task in front of me, like I did last year. I want to go backpacking and hiking, and just run and bike for the fun of it. Do a 5K or 10K or a century or whatever comes up and be ready to do something like that. But to work so hard to finish in the Top 3 in the State of SC as the Fat Boy of all Fat Boy's is not high on my list this year (See list below!). I think I had to have this revelation to get out of the funk and pressure I have been putting on myself to meet others expectations of what someone would do after completing an Ironman the year before. I can hear it now "That guy did an Ironman last year?? I mean look at him! His butt is so big! IIIII Like big butts and I can not lie!" Maybe not that last part. (I got caught up in a song sorry!) But think about it. The reason I "FEEL" like I have to do something this year is just to keep a level of expectations for people around me because I completed an Ironman last year. My inner circle of friends (that are going to read this) could give a flip but it is those others that are wondering "What is he going to do this year to top last year?". And don't get me wrong that is probably nobody but I have this perceived notion that people are talking and looking and wondering, and honestly that is what has driven me to do what I have done in the past. BUT NO LONGER!!! This Cyldesdale is going to go at his own pace, pulling a beer cart and all.

Anyway, I hope this rant makes since to some out there that are struggling with moving forward after completing something big and don't know what to do now!

Priority List:

1) Know God better and what he wants out of me and my life!

2) Grow closer to my wife and child!

3) DO SOMETHING FUN not a perceived event.

a)GO HIKING AND BACKPACKING! LOVE THE OUTDOORS GOD'S COUNTRY and BEAUTY!

b)Do a half marathon this year for the heck of it. I do love running!

c)Maybe sprinkle in a century ride. NOTHING TO HILLY! #1 reason I hate biking.

What do you think....

Funny photo of the day... (Just for you Brad!)

Hey, here's something else you should add to your priority list:
Don't eat at Tsunami after 6:00 on Tuesdays...too busy!
I like the picture and the website, too - despair.com - shouldn't that be the official website of all Ohio State fans?

Count me in for whatever Half you do (if I get back in time). It's my distance of choice right now.

Oh, and a very good post.
