Well since I am out of a job, I decided to take my son and head to NC a little early and hang with the Team Parents. Which they really helped me out with taking care of Tobias (pretty much doing it all) and ended up paying for a hotel room in Wilkesboro, NC because the drive was further than I thought. Anyway, time for the race report.. RACE
Seems the this race has been called by a few, the "Toughest International in the Southeast!", it says it on the shirt I got and now from experience I would say it ranks up there. I have let the race day sink in and I really think I did the best with the amount of training I put forth. I ended up third in the "Fat Boy" Division with a time under 3 hrs. Well that right there should speak to the course. It is rolling hills with moderate climbs and the run does two laps, which you run over the dam that the course is laid around, twice with a couple of other quad busting hills. The big surprise of the day was the temperature really held off. It wasn't as intense as I expected it to be on the run. It was hot but not as bad as I was thinking. Also besides the hills on the bike, I think I had the best possible bike ride with the amount of training I had been putting in. The swim your asking... Well it felt like I was swimming in warm chicken broth. It was crazy! I had never swam in 90 degree water and it was 91! I actually wanted to take my cap off to let my head cool down. I was scared of a DQ there. Once some race pictures get posted I will put them up.
Also on another note, I ran into a guy (THAT GOT 2nd "Fat Boy" Division) that 1) actually has seen my blog and admitted to reading my garbage and 2) I have raced against the past couple of years. Well in two weeks he will be doing the race I contimplated, that's right, Louisville Ironman! Best of luck to you Kyle!
PEACE OUT AND REMEMBER this is not fat but a protective layer for my rock hard abs!!!

Sounds like you did fine. 90 Deg is terrible for any competitive swimming.
When I used to lifeguard the lap swimmers would get on my case if the water got anywhere near the upper 80's!
