I feel like a new man...

Well my Asic Landreth's were getting up there in miles (444 miles to be exact!) and I was feeling some effects of long runs on my feet. So I got a new pair which will be discussed below. I also finally got my bike "Tri'ed out" (Not pimped out) with a forward facing seat post and was fit to the already attached aero bars on the bike.
Let's start with the bike. I had purchased a set of aero bars a couple of years ago and really didn't use them because for the sprints I really wasn't seeing any benefit. The Ironman will probably be different (probably the keyword there!) since I will need to save my legs. With the forward facing seatpost it allows your knees to come forward of the peddles so you can use more of your overall leg instead of just your quads, which you need for the run. I also put on a new tri seat so it is more comfortable on your, how do you say, NUTS! It still hurts don't worry, I hopefully will still be able to have more kids. I had a slight adjustment to the aero bars to give me a comfortable position when down in the aero position. After my two rides, one being a brick ride, this weekend I felt good except the muscles in the neck and around the base of the skull are sore. I guess from carrying my melon in the aero position. Ohh well that is what training is for!!
OK now the shoes. The Nike Air Vomero!!!

Ohh man is this like walking on air. I guess you actually are. The reviews on Runner's World were good and I have been saving some dough for a really good pair just to see if 20 or 30 bucks more makes a difference. (Asics Landreth 89 bucks to Nike Vomero 110 bones) Well so far not really but we will see as I break them in. I had a brick session this weekend with a 30 min run and the shoes performed really well. Responsive and very cushioning when landing, being a clydesdale this is important. I was expecting not to have as much responsiveness as the shoes do since it feels like I am wearing pillows. I love a shoe that is snug around the front part of my foot and is very light material so that my foot can breath. This shoe has that, just like my Asics, but the sole is wider in the same area allowing for the load to distribute more evenly to the pavement which I can feel a big difference between. All in all I like the shoe and I will probably be purchasing another pair of shoes (most likely Asic Landreth which is my fav shoe of all time)for training and possibly the Ironman. My buddy said that if he could have done one thing different for the run it would have been put another pair of shoes at the halfway point in his run care bag. His shoes were soaked and sloshy when he finished. I will have to see when the time comes but I will interject a different pair of shoes to be running in for the training at least. Enjoy and I hope this little review helps. Have a good one.
