Update...

I know it has been two weeks since I have been on here. I really should have updated sooner but work and getting high scores has been a priority for the last couple of weeks. Anyway, training is going ok. It seems I miss a short week workout either due to slight injury (major ache or tightness that needs ice) or weather. The good thing is that none of them have been the long stuff or for the most part the weekend stuff.
Update on the shoes. Well the Vomero caused some really sharp pains on the top of my foot, right above the big toe. The tendon that lifts the toe was sore to the touch. I didn't miss a run workout due to it but I had to go back to my old shoes and work with the running store on what I could do. I eventually had them replaced and I now am trying the Nike Hayward. It is like the Vomero but no leather on the top that could cause pain. I did my long run this weekend with them and besides the bottom of my feet adjusting to the new shoe they felt great.
Training: It is hard with a new born at home but the wife is all for it. It is hard on our marriage and just me helping around the house. This week is a recovery week so we will be spending a little more time just hanging out together and the 6 week wait period is over which is even better. HA HA The training is just plain tough. Doing the long bike and then the long run the next day is just plain tough. I am trying to figure out my nutrition on the bike and for the run. I haven't locked that in so that really drains me and the homemade recovery drinks seem to work but I need more. I am really trying to figure these things out on the fly. Does anyone have advice. I currently eat peanut butter granola bar, couple of gel packs, and mostly accelerade on the bike. For my long runs I am just doing one gel pack for every hour and 6 fuel belt bottles 4 with accelerade and 2 with just water. Do I need more? I feel as if I do on the bike. The run is just draining anyway and I hurt after that. My body is adapting pretty well with the extra stress and I am just tight today and slightly sore. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well out there and I currently feel as if the finish line at Ironman Florida is attainable. I need some longer runs but should be good to go in the coming months.

Take it easy...

Bike nutrition is a dodgy thing. You think you have it one week and the next you don't. As a fellow Clyde I would suggest, before proper testing, you focus on about 300 calories an hour on the bike. Making sure you have proper electolyte balance.

the run is what it is, not a fan of accelerade but the gu's sound about right. i usually go with one every 45 minutes or so since I go through more calories per hour than most. Plus don't forget the electrolytes there too.

You actually obeyed the 6 week wait?!? No worries - eventually everything returns to "normal".
