Here is a little information on the upcoming SC Half that I will be competing in...
The swim is the same location and start as the Festival of Flowers.
Here is the bike profile and course. First off this is not a flat course, it is more of a rolling course that has some good hills in there. Should be interesting.
The run is two laps of the Festival of Flowers run course, which as stated above I have banged that out.
Common Man had the same question last week, about how hard he should push himself at his Olympic distance tri. I wonder what I should do here. I don't want to be a big push over to my buddies that will be out there competing, I don't think my man side will allow me to do that, but my Ironman side is saying take it easy do what you want to do on race day and go from there. My Ironman bike pace is somewhere around 18mph and my run pace somewhere around 9 or 930, if that is possible. All I really want is an under 2 hour half marathon, which is doable since most of my long runs have been right at 8 min miles. I wonder if my mind will allow self doubt to come in if I go at Ironman pace and really struggle. Then I tell myself I have been training hard and that shouldn't happen, BUT WHAT IF IT DOES? AHHH. Anyway, I think I am going to shot for 19mph on the bike and a 830 pace on the run. I guess I will see where my body is at. Which I can't wait for because I love proving my mind wrong about so many other things. HA HA
Take it easy!

Ashley, that run speed is freaky fast for the amount of distance you will cover before it. We could hang on the bike but no way I can ave. 9's in an IM. Crap I am shooting for 11's. Right now I train long at 9:30.
I did a bit of both. Swim is what it is, the bike I opened up a bit averaging 21 mph (IM is 18) and then cranked up the run. One thing I might recommend that I did not really do on my solo training is up the cadence to high 90's low 100's and keep the speed up. I think this helped keep my legs fresh and ready to turnover on the run.
BTW it was 3hrs. on my last race. My swim was ten minutes to long due to traffic and fighting. If I trained specifically for an Oly and had a less conjested swim I can do 2'40"s easy.
